Born again Mac guy

My move to almost completely Mac is nearly there, I am now typing this on a shiny new 24" iMac and it's awesome.

There is a lot of hype around Apple products and I can kind of see why. They have a very good design asthetic with both the hardware and software, everything is very integrated and it's all about the user experience. My favourite bit is unpacking them as even that is a design experience, then just plugging it in the the wall and you ready to go with plenty of handy stuff out of the box.

I have been using the PC from almost the start of time, I had to do collage work on original IBM PC with only a floppy drive (try compiling minux on one of them). The point here is I have been a windows user for ever and changing to the mac has been a breath of fresh air for me. It has returned a little bit of pleasure to my day to day computing experience. Nothing obvious, you just notice little touches and most of the time 'it just works'. Obviously it's a computer at the end of the day and working is a relative term here, but my iMac has only needed to restarted on average every couple of weeks.

I'm not saying everyone would like them as much as I do, but for a long in the tooth PC guy it's made computers fun again and I can do more with the Mac than I could with the PC even though it's all the same hardware burried in a nicer box.

So there you go, i'm out of the closet as an apple fan boy, next up an iPhone....

Doug, I'm on top of the building looking down wondering if the MAC will save me! I really want to jump on in but I need a mac user wispering into my ear "go on jump! you know you want to, don't worry MAC will catch you and make it all OK" and hearing you talk like this mabey this is the push I needed.
P.S. as soon as I can find two of them Iphone will be ours.
