Well it's been a couple of weeks now and I'm loving my iMac. I even popped in to the cult of the Mac central this morning (the Apple store on Regent Street).
It's an interesting shopping experience, lots of mac types milling about with laptops open, a photoshop lesson going on in the corner and more 30" (£1500) monitors floating about than you can shake a stick at. More an experience than a shop, not sure how easy it would be to buy one there anyway.
Right back to the iMac, so far I have done all my recent blog posts on it (ok so I've been side tracked quite a lot), managed to get Cold Fusion and Eclipse working on it along with Flash and all the tools I use day to day. The nice thing is that a bunch of the things I used to need extra software for are just there on the iMac. Wnat to do a screen capture then Grab is right there, bit of text on an image; Core Image Fun House should do it. Looking for something on the disk, Spotlight is really very good (be nice if it would show where things are on the disk in some easy way).
So apart from a few problems like getting a logitech 5000 bluetooth PC keyboard working (i blame logitech #!*@ers) and clicking in a windows manner here and there I can say it's been a great experience so far. Loads of great free software to sort out any problem you can think of and oodles of help on t'internet for those niggly little things.
Huzzah for the Mac it's put a bit of fun back into computing for me, which is nice :)
Just waiting for my shiny iMac to turn up.
Yup I have taken the plunge after many years of fancying one and the postman should come a knocking anytime soon.
