As ever with this technology stuff it's a tricky business.
I have been wanting to go all Mac for nearly a year now, so I have hopped on the apple marketing band wagon and wait with baited breath every Tuesday to see what new shiny toy will arrive. Even though I know it's marketing hype I still get a bit sucked in.
Anyway this Tuesday had a refresh of Mac Books and Mac Book Pros, just what I have been after. Credit card out and job done :o)
Ahh but here's the rub, this being technology it will be updated in the near future with faster / better / shinier etc. Apples current laptops are probably the last of this version (2-3 years old now).
So it becomes a guessing game as to when a good time to buy is. Either you need it now to do a job or you can make do but be less productive / satisfied with the toy depending on work or home use of said gizmo.
So this time the credit card has been saved, the laptop canceled and normality restored... For the moment till the next update in June which had better be a good un is all i'm going to impatiently say.
Don't even start me on the HD Tv's....
Having turned into an apple fan boy these days I had a couple of groovy toys turn up today.
The first was apples latest and greatest operating system called Leopard. Very shiny box and for a change (comming from the microsoft world) it just installed and worked faster and better than the previous. Nice...
Oh and the second toy was apples wireless router, this has just replaced 2 boxes and about 100ft of cable and once again kind of just works. Again nice.
The weird thing about all of this is that I have become an apple fan boy and get all excited about new apple products even if I don't have any interest in buying them. I think it comes down to years of being a hardened PC user where it is unusual to a)have things work and b)have things work better than you expected.
That and being a nerd obviously ;o)
